Crouse Manufacturing Industries has successfully obtained the
National Standard Certificate of Iran for the production of side airbags. This
marks the first time an Iranian company has achieved this certification for
side airbags.
Side airbags are typically installed in vehicle seats to protect
the pelvis and chest of occupants during side-impact collisions. Depending on
their size and placement, side airbags can also provide head protection,
preventing injuries caused by impact with interior vehicle components. In
modern vehicles, side airbags are often used in conjunction with curtain
airbags to ensure comprehensive protection of occupants’ heads, chests, sides,
and pelvis in the event of a collision. According to the reputable Insurance
Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS), 60% of fatal accidents involve side-impact
collisions; yet, the risk of occupant fatalities in vehicles equipped with side
airbags is 29% lower than in vehicles without them.
Previously, Crouse’s driver and passenger airbags had also been
certified by the INSO(Iran National Standard Organization). Vehicles equipped
with Crouse airbags have successfully met European ECE standards in both
frontal and side crash tests and have received the E-Mark certification from
international European institutions.
This new certification further solidifies Crouse’s position as a
leading company in Iran’s automotive safety components industry. This
certification is expected to strengthen the domestic supply chain and
significantly enhance occupant safety in locally manufactured vehicles. By
adhering to national and international standards and maintaining a strong focus
on quality, Crouse produces products that meet global standards and are
suitable for international markets.
