Crouse investments in R&D enhances Iran Automotive Industry

1.     Crouse R&D center is divided into vehicle electronic systems and vehicle mechanical systems divisions. About 250 people are working in R&D center to design, develop and localize automotive parts.

2.     To enhance technical knowledge and localize automotive parts, Crouse has run projects in parallel with Amirkabir, Tehran and Sharif universities.

3.     This year, Crouse localized new generation of body control unit of Peugeot 206, Peugeot 405 and Samand as well as different types of switches and new generation of ECU with specific features.

4.     Crouse alone cover the costs required for its R&D center to achieve steps forward to Iran automotive industry enhancement.

 

Crouse, with three decades of work in production of automotive parts, has been designing and localizing many advanced automotive parts in its R&D center. About 250 people are working in two electronic and mechanical divisions of Crouse R&D center.

M.R. Dehghan, Crouse's chief R&D manager, says “Crouse R&D center has been established in 2010 and starts its activity in two distinguished divisions, vehicle electronic systems and vehicle mechanical systems and so far, it has been able to localize many car parts. The vehicle electronics division goal is design, development and localization of vehicle’s instrument panel, body control unit, immobilizer, airbag control unit, multimedia, electronic switches, etc. for different types of Iranian cars.”

Dehghan, with emphasize on collaboration with universities to enhance Iran automotive industry, says “Automotive part suppliers can collaborate with universities on their design and research projects to reduce production costs, increase productivity, optimize material usage, and manage engineering changes. To achieve this goal and enhance our technical knowledge, Crouse launches projects in parallel with Amirkabir, Tehran and Sharif universities. About 40 students of these universities are working in this R&D center now, which in the future they will have the chance to be hired in Crouse.”

Dehghan, as an outcome of such a collaboration with universities, says “This year, Crouse localized new generation of body control unit of Peugeot 206, Peugeot 405 and Samand as well as different types of switches and new generation of ECU with specific features.”

He said, by relying on research and development we can produce all new generation of automotive parts. Even though suppliers design and develop parts based on OEM’s needs, OEMs do not provide us with the funding we need for R&D. Part of R&D budget is dedicated to manpower and facilities and part to advanced expensive equipment. If we want to make progress in R&D, we have to have that advanced equipment. Nowadays Crouse alone cover the costs required for its R&D center to achieve steps forward to Iran automotive industry enhancement.
